FAQs

What does the CPS Accidental Drone Warranty cover?

The CPS Accidental Drone Warranty covers full parts and labor on all internal hardware failure, as well as Accidental Damage Protection. This contract is specifically for drones used recreationally (consumer use only). A deductible applies in the event a claim is made.

Does the Drone coverage start on the date of purchase, or is it an extended warranty plan?

Your Accidental Drone Warranty coverage begins on the end user’s date of purchase. For example, if you purchase a Drone with a 2 year plan, you will receive 2 total years of coverage from the date of purchase. There is a 30 day claims hold to prevent DOAs or manufacturer defects, and CPS coverage will begin on day 31. Any claims that occur during that first 30 days of purchase, will not be covered under this plan.

Is my drone protected against crashes?

Absolutely! That is the purpose of the Accidental Drone warranty. Your warranty covers physical damage, excessive damage, impact damage, water damage, and everything in between.

What is excluded from the Accidental Drone Warranty?

Unfortunately your warranty will not cover lost or stolen products, or any add-on accessories.

Is my drone’s camera or gimbal covered?

If a camera or gimbal is included in the box from the manufacturer, then yes, your warranty will cover it as well. Cameras or gimbals purchased separately will not be covered.

Are my drone propellers covered? Will I have to send my unit in for any replacement parts?

Replacing the drone’s propellers is a maintenance issue therefore, it is not covered under warranty. Propellers are user replaceable parts. Depending on the manufacturer, it is recommended to replace propellers if you notice a change in your flight experience or experience a noisy/unbalanced flight.

Does the Accidental Drone Warranty cover rechargeable batteries?

Batteries are consumables and are not covered under warranty.

What happens if my remote control malfunctions or is damaged while under warranty?

Your warranty will cover the remote (that was included in the box from the manufacturer) for full parts and labor, any hardware malfunctions, and any accidental damage claims.

What do I need to have ready to file a claim?

We have made the filing process simple. Just contact CPS by phone or email to file your claim. You also have the options of filing a claim directly through your CPS Client Care account, and via the chat at https://www.cpscentral.com. To file your claim you will need to submit your CPS Membership ID #, your drone’s serial #, and a copy of your original purchase receipt.

Who will repair my drone? Is there anywhere I can bring my drone in locally for repairs?

After paying your deductible, you will ship your product at your expense to the CPS depot repair facility. Once your drone is received, based on the manufacturer, your drone will either be fixed by our Repair Center or sent to the manufacturer directly. Unfortunately at this time are unable to repair your drone locally, as CPS would not be able to ensure a quality repair outside of our care or the manufacturer’s.

How is my claim deductible determined?

The warranty deductible is based off of the contract you purchase. For drones valued under $250.00 the deductible can be as as low as $30.00, and for units under $3,500.00 the deductible is $250.00. Please contact us if you need additional pricing and deductible details.

Will my coverage continue after CPS repairs my drone?

Yes, your coverage will remain in place until your contract expires, or until your drone is replaced under warranty.

How many claims can I file over the course of my warranty plan?

You can file as many claims as you like for your drone, however coverage will cap out once repair costs reach the original purchase price of your drone.

What happens if the service center cannot repair my drone due to excessive damage, or if it’s beyond economical repair?

If CPS cannot fix your drone, then you will get a full replacement. CPS also will offer you the option of a check to cover the cost of a replacement drone.

Will my coverage continue beyond the replacement of my drone?

Unfortunately not. Once your drone is replaced, the CPS contract is considered fulfilled. You can purchase a new Drone Warranty for their replacement unit if you wish to continue coverage of your new drone.

If I lost my drone, can I transfer the warranty over to a new drone that I purchase?

No. If you lose your drone, CPS warranty coverage is voided.

If I sell my drone, can I sell the warranty along with it?

Yes! We make transferring ownership simple via the CPS Customer Experience Department. Please note, a $25.00 transfer fee will apply to process your request.

Does this Accidental Drone Warranty cover drones for commercial use?

This plan will only cover drones used recreationally by consumers. Unfortunately we do not offer coverage for commercial drone products at this time.
